Tinsel the Clown's History

In the summer of 1975 in Summerside, PEI, an idea was conceived and on 31 October 1975, "Tinsel" was "born", remaining on PEI until June of 1977. He then moved to Germany and for the next four years, performed in nine European countries.

On return to Canada, he took up residence in New Brunswick. In 1983, Tinsel and his friend "Wrinkles" joined forces and for the next 3 years, instructed the basics of clowning to almost 30 "clown-wanna-be's". During this time, Tinsel also was a student and began the art of Balloon Sculpture. Over the years his skill increased and the "Magic of Balloon Manipulation" became his motto.

In January 1987, Tinsel moved to the Quebec City area where demand for his balloon making skills was high. One of Tinsel's most memorable performances was in May 1988 in Montreal, where he had the opportunity to enhance a summer fashion show, which featured professional European models.

In 1989 Tinsel returned to Germany and continued to entertain in several countries, this time adding Denmark and England to the list. One new item he added to his entertainment while in Europe was a "unicycle with training wheels".

On return to Canada, Halifax, NS was Tinsel's new home for three years.

In January of 1995 Tinsel moved to Waasis, NB with his wife (Face Painter, Toffee) and daughter (Jellybean). A year later Tinsel became a vendor at the WW Boyce Farmers Market in Fredericton.

Since then Tinsel has traveled to places like Campbellton, Edmundston, Florenceville, Bristol, Miramichi, Moncton, Sussex, Norton, Saint John, St. Andrews, Grand Manan and many more.

Though Tinsel does not speak, he does understand English, French and a limited amount of German.
